A Grippen

 (fl. 1851)
A. W. Grippen was active/lived in California.  A Grippen is known for amateur sketches, town views.

Biography   A. Grippen

Grippen arrived in the earliest days of the Gold Rush in 1849.  His cabin in the Yuba River area was the first to be built and formed the nucleus of the town of Downieville.  His crude drawing of Downieville in 1851 is his only known work.
