Biography Achille Formis Befani
In the Sixties, after abandoning a career as a singer, Achille Formis Befani moved to Milan to study at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, with his friend Eugene Gignous. Very popular are his works of Orientalist subject, made during his repeated trips back from the Near East.
During the seventies, Befani painted landscapes inspired by the Lombardy countryside and surroundings of Lake Maggiore, becoming an appreciated interpreter of Lombard naturalism. He participated in the annual events in Brera and in 1887 and 1899 at the Venice Biennale. Then he exposed in Berlin in 1896 and Monaco of Bavaria in 1901 and 1906.
