“Ada Seaman was teacher of painting and drawing in 1882-1883” (23) at the University of Nebraska according to Clarissa Bucklin’s book, Nebraska Art and Artists. This publication is the first and most reliable documentation of early Nebraska non-Indian painters, teachers, and frontier sketch artists. Although Ada Seaman had only one short sentence in the book, the fact she is listed means that she played a role in building the fine-art culture of the state from its pre-territorial days.
