Adna Tenney (1810-1900)
Born in Hanover, New Hampshire, he was a farmer until 1844, when he went to Boston, Mass. to study with the artist Francis Alexander. He became an itinerant portrait artist, who was in Concord (NH) in 1845 and again in 1872. In between his New Hampshire appearances Tenney worked at New York City, Baltimore (MD), along the Mississippi River (c. 1856), and owned thirty acres in Vineland, New Jersey in 1869. His wife's name, Susan, is the same as well as the fact that he was from New Hampshire. Both facts appear on the old deed. He had originally bought twenty acres in 1864.
