Adolph Ferdinand Frederick Beguhl was born in Germany on Jan. 25, 1829. Beguhl moved to San Francisco about 1862. During the 1870s he decorated many of the mansions on Nob Hill for the nouveaux riches.
Most of his frescoes went up in flames in the disaster of 1906. Following the earthquake and fire, he moved across the bay to Berkeley into a home at 1927 Addison. Beguhl died there on June 15, 1912.
