Adriaan Keus Holland 1875 - 1955
Adriaan Keus was born in Rotterdam, Holland. He originally studied botany in London before his interest in drawing and painting of plants and flowers induced him to study art. Returning to Holland, he spent the years 1898 and 1899 studying at the Academy of Art in The Hague. While there, he was also advised by the well known Hague School painter H. W. Mesdeg who encouraged his interest in country landscapes, farms, woods and fields of flowers. Often he chose to place adorable children in these settings.
After 1900 the artist continued to study in his travels, often accompanied by a fellow artist, B. Schrepel, who also painted landscapes.
