Biography Alan Cober
Born in New York City, he studied law at the University of Vermont and from 1954-56, the School of Visual Arts, followed by the Pratt Institute Graphic Center. After another two years at the art unit in the Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, he began freelancing and worked for all the major magazines, various Fortune 500 advertising accounts, and illustrated more than twenty five children's books.
From 1974 to 1993, he was president of the Illustrator's Workshop in Norton, Connecticut. From 1987, he was Professor of Art at the State University in Buffalo, New York. He received many awards from the Art Directors Club of New York, the Society of Publication Designers and the Society of Illustrators, which honored him with the Hamil
