between 1869 and 1932 as a portraitist especially miniatures, and

He was born in France, and as an infant, was taken by his mother to New
York City, and then to New Orleans when he was four years old. He
was sent back to France for schooling but returned to New Orleans where
he studied with François Bernard. In 1969, for work exhibited at
the New Orleans fair grounds, he won four silver medals.
