The painter and graphic artist Alexander Gerbig Alexander Gerbig (1878 Suhl - Suhl 1948) was a German painter and graphic artist. In 1900 he began his studies at the Dresden Arts and Crafts School and works on the side as a decorative painter. He encourages his friend Max Pechstein, to do so. Both continue their studies eventually continued at the Dresden Art Academy. During this time she also lived together. Gerbig studied with R. Müller, Zwintscher and Kuehl and received in 1913 the Villa Romana Prize and an annual grant from the city of Florence. All his life was a close correspondence with regular meetings between him and Pechstein.
