Listed as a commercial artist by Edan Hughes, historian of artists active in California before 1940, Alice Buckner was born and buried in Nebraska, but lived much of her life in southern California. Nothing else has been found about her career, but legal records indicate she was from Fullerton, Nebraska; was called ‘Peggy;” married in 1909 to Arthur Garfield Buckner of Council Bluffs; divorced from him at an unlisted date; and from 1910 lived in Los Angeles for many years with an aunt, Katherine Rice.
