Biography   Alice Rose Twitchell Provensen

Born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 14, 1918. Twitchell studied at the AIC, UCLA (1936-39), and ASL of NYC (1940-41). During WWII she worked for Walter Lantz in Hollywood and did technical drawing for the Office of Strategic Services. In 1946 she and her husband Martin Provensen moved to New York to collaborate on book illustration and design. Her book Charge of the Light Brigade won best illustrated children's book of the year in 1964. She is currently living in Staatsburg, NY. Exh: Baltimore Museum, 1954; American Inst. of Graphic Arts (NYC), 1959.
