Biography Aloys Wach
In 1909, Aloys Ludwig Wach (1892-1940) began his artistic training, after he had been rejected at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. From 1912 to 1913, he studied at the private art school of Knirr and Sailer in Munich. From 1913 to 1914, he was a student of the Académie Colarossi in Paris. He created expressionistic cubist drawings, etchings and woodcuts. Afterwards he continued his studies under the guidance of Heinrich Altherr in Stuttgart.
As an enthusiastic exponent of Expressionism, he became a member of the avant-garde gallery ‘Der Sturm’ in Berlin and worked for various journals. In 1919, he moved to Braunau am Inn. From 1920, he created expressionist still lifes, landscapes and por
