Modernist painter, illustrator, sculptor, potter, and collage artist, Alta Mae Fieselman was both a conventional 'club woman' in her hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a boundary-pusher with her avant-garde style artwork. As a Lincoln Artists' Guild charter member, she remains legendary for her fifty-year participation, 1932 to 1982; for service in numerous leadership positions; and for multi-faceted exhibition entries, many of them non-conforming subjects and mediums.
