Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 21, 1891, Katharine Amory Hooper studied at the Boston Museum School, the Art Students League in New York and the summer school of Kimon Nicoladides, and was best known for a facility for the rapid sketching of dancers in action, often in a semi-abstract style. She exhibited in New York and Boston in the late nineteen-thirties under the name Amory Hooper.
Hooper began her career as a fashion designer for the Merrimac Manufacturing Company. She wrote a fashion column for The Sportsman magazine, published in Boston in the late nineteen-twenties, and later was with Harper's Bazaar in New York. She painted throughout the New England states. <
