Biography Amy Sacker
Amy M. Sacker was a designer, illustrator, teacher, lecturer, and leather worker. She studied decoration at the MFA School, from 1889 to 1894 under Joseph DeCamp, Joseph Lindon Smith, and C. Howard Walker. She received a scholarship in 1892 and won a prize for the highest average in 1893. Sacker began teaching decorative design at the Cowles Art School in Boston after her graduation. Sacker founded her own school in 1901, later called the Sacker School of Design and Interior Decoration. As a gifted and inspirational instructor she taught there for more than forty years. She also lectured at schools and clubs throughout New England and worked at Simmons College in 1914.
