Biography   Amy Wentworth Cabot

Among the artists who purchased land from Charles Woodbury in the 1880s at Ogunquit, Maine, Amy Cabot was one of the artists who formed the Ogunquit Art Association in 1928, and who composed a strong artistic community that lasted into the 1940s. 

As a maiden lady, she was part of group local people dubbed "The Virginal Wayfarers," because they sported "long skirts, high collared blouses and wide-brimmed straw hats or in later years, print shirt-waist dresses and solid high-top laced up shoes." They often gathered for tea and painted together along an ocean walk called "The Marginal Way."

All were students of Charles Woodbury. "Their paintings strongly resembled those of their teacher, but showed enough individual style   ...  Displaying 750 of 1791 characters.
