Biography Andrew Anthony
Born in New York City, Andrew Anthony became known for his engravings and watercolor paintings. He was one of the founding members of the American Water Color Society.
In the 1850s, he was in San Francisco working for the Harrison Eastman Company, and later he established the firm of Anthony & Baker. Following this period, he returned to New York and did book illustrations and engravings for authors including Longfellow, Whittier, and Hawthorne. His work appeared in "The Scarlet Letter", "Snow Bound", and "Ballads of New England".
He died in West Newton, Massachusetts.
