Daughter of the Rev. James Woods McLane (22 May 1801 - 26 Feb 1864) and Ann
Huntington Richards (1 September 1807 - 24 June 1875), Ann McLane was born in New York where her father was the Minister at the Madison Street Presbyterian
Church, in New York.
She met Thomas Charles Farrer when he was giving tutoring women's drawing
classes at the The Cooper Union. She and Thomas were members of "The
Association for the Advancement of Truth in Art", and they married on the 31st of May 1863 in Connecticut.
Very little of her work remains, but the pencil drawing on the AskART Summary Page we acquired from Tina Melville-Smith and is a prime example of Pre-Rapaelitism still-life drawing. It is possible that her artwork was cur
