Anne Wintermute Lane was born in Canada in January 1870. Formerly of Chicago, in 1893 Anna married Franklin K. Lane, editor of the Tacoma News, in Washington. The couple then moved to San Francisco where Mrs. Lane studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and became in the local art scene. Her husband was city attorney and later Secretary of Interior during the Wilson administration. She died in 1939.
