Biography   Annie Lucas

Self taught, Annie Lucas paints canvases that express and communicate her devotion to God. Some of her works such as "Seven Angels Having the Seven Last Plagues" are based on Biblical stories such as, in this case, the Book of "Revelations." On many of these canvases, she outlines her figures with thread, which gives a raised effect and also allows blind persons to experience her work.

Born February 18, 1954, Annie Lucas grew up in a rural area of Autauga County, one of fifteen children. Her father died when Annie was five and her mother reared the family without re-marrying.
