The "ROUX" dynasty begins with Joseph ROUX (1725-1789) who owns a hydrographer's shop on the port of Marseille inherited from his father. He is the first of this dynasty to paint and draw, drawing on nautical charts, harbor plans ... he is probably the initiator of the kind of painting called "portrait of boats". His son Ange-Joseph Antoine (1765-1835), bathed from an early age in the shop of his father where he draws the desire to draw the many buildings of the port of Marseille. He will be known for his many reconstructions of naval battles as well as multiple ex-votos.
