A painter, Antoon Heinsbergen was born in Holland on Dec. 13, 1894. He immigrated to Los Angeles as a small boy. After studying at Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes, he was sought after as a decorator of theaters. With a crew of 185, he painted wall and ceiling decorations in 757 theaters in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Using bricks from the old Los Angeles City Hall, he built a miniature castle on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood to house his company. In his leisure he painted portraits, landscapes, and figure studies.
He died in Los Angeles on June 14, 1981.
