Arbelin Hayden Keyes was born in Pennsylvania on July 4, 1861, the daughter of Susan Crownover and Rev. William Spring Hubbell Keyes. She was the daughter of a former pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Wellington from 1890-1893.
She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and was believed to be influenced by Thomas Eakins, widely considered to be one of the greatest American artists of the 19th century. "Miss Linnie" was a distinguished artist, having several of her pictures exhibited there. She painted mostly portraits and still life in oil and watercolor.
