Arik Brauer started out in his twenties as a street singer in Paris and later made his living as a nightclub performer. His first LP record, words, music and singing all by Brauer, was so successful that Brauer earned two gold records.
Yet there is another Brauer. Born in Vienna in 1929 to Russian Jewish parents, he was nine when he was sent to a concentration camp. After seven years of forced labor, he had the spirit to return to Vienna and study at its Academy for the Pictorial Arts. Years of painting and wandering brought him in 1952 to Israel where he met and married Naomi, whose family came from Yemen. They have three daughters and live in the Israeli artist colony of Ein Ho
