While growing up in West Virginia, Barbara Glenn Meadows-May gained a great love for wildlife and beautiful scenery. Before moving to Virginia, Barbara lived alone in Colorado for 10 years. Her log cabin was located at 9500 feet near the Spanish Peaks in the southern part of the state. While living there she observed and studied wildlife up close and personal. Each day was presented with a new adventure especially learning how to live with the American Black Bear. Many hours were spent sketching and taking photographs of a mother black bear and her cubs during the summer of 1995
