Biography Benno Raffael Adam
Adam was trained at his father's studio and began ealry on to make to lithographs of
his studies and pictures. He appeared as a painter with two animal
paintings at the Münchener Kunstverein for the first time in 1835. He
joined the association and gained first recognition. The further
specialization on animal pieces and commissions by Herzog Adolf von
Nassau followed. In addition, Adam also illustrated agricultural books
about cattle breeding.
Paintings of Adam are e.g. in the Neue Pinakothek
in Munich, in the possession of the Grand Duke of Luxemburg, the
descendants of Archduke Karl Ludwig, the princes of Fürstenberg and in
private ownership in Hamburg. (tm)
