Beulah Clute

Biography   Beulah Clute

Born in Rushville, IL on March 24, 1873. Beulah Mitchell first studied at the AIC and continued at the ASL in NYC. At that school she met her husband-to-be, Walter Clute. After coming to California for the PPIE in 1915, her husband died suddenly. Opting to remain, she settled in Berkeley into a studio-home at 815 Gravatt Drive. She died there on Feb. 6, 1958. Her forte was book plates and illuminated parchments. Member: Calif. Bookplate Society; Chicago Artists Guild. Exh: SFAA, 1916; Berkeley League of FA, 1924.
