Birney MacNabb Quick was active/lived in Minnesota.  Birney Quick is known for painting, teaching.

Biography   Birney Quick

Birney Quick was born in Proctor, Minnesota in 1912.  From 1930 to 1933, Quick studied at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston and graduated with honors. Continuing his studies, he was awarded the Tiffany Fellowship for two years and placed second in the Chaloner Fellowship.

Quick returned to Minnesota, sharing a studio in Duluth with fellow artist Knute Heldner.  In 1946 he moved to Minneapolis to teach at the Minneapolis School of Art, which later became the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Quick was one of the originators of the Grand Marais Art Colony, Minnesota's first outdoor painting school.  After many years of teaching, Quick retired from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and be   ...  Displaying 750 of 825 characters.
