Biography Bruno Alberts
Louisville native, Bruno Alberts studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and was considered one of the city's promising artists. After World War I, he and his wife, Ann, cared for his invalid brother and fellow artist John Bernard Alberts. Family members believe he sacrificed his own artistic ambitions. An interest in gardening led Alberts to give up painting in the 1930s and move to Florida, where he started a large orchid business. When he retired, he started painting again and moved back to Louisville in the early 1960s.
