Carolyn Mims Lawrence (American, b. 1940)
African American artist active in Chicago, IL and founding member of Africobra*, Carolyn Mims Lawrence received her BFA at the University of Texas, Austin and her MFA at the Illinois Institute of Technology. 

In 1967, she contributed to the Wall of Respect mural in the south side of Chicago.

Lawrence also authored the article, “Art for Black Students - A Change in Objectives,” for School Arts Magazine, February 1969.
Her work has been featured in Africobra I: Ten in Search of a Nation, The Studio Museum in Harlem, 1970; AFRICOBRA II, Studio Museum in Harlem, 1971: Afri-Cobra III, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 1973; Tradition and Conflict:   ...  Displaying 750 of 1121 characters.
