Biography   Carroll Brown


The following, submitted March 2005, is from Christina Clark and Marie Bilney of Hamburg, N.J. They have been researching Carroll Brown's life in the Cragsmoor, New York Art Colony.  Mrs. Clark and her husband presently own the house that Carroll Brown built when he was a resident of the Art Colony.  Much information has been gathered from previously written material including public records, the artist's obituary, Kinston Court houses, etc.

Carroll Butler Brown was born on February 17, 1868 in New Orleans, Louisiana, son of Theodore and Frances M. Brown.  His siblings included brothers F.
