Biography   Catherine Seideneck

Born in Evanston, IL on Nov. 1, 1885. Catherine Comstock studied at the Roycroft Shop and at the AIC. Upon moving to California in 1915, she continued her studies at UC and the CCAC. After her marriage to George Seideneck in 1920 and a European honeymoon, she settled in Carmel where her brothers Hugh and Hurd Comstock were early developers. She was active as an organizer in the local art colony and taught leather sculpture at the Carmel Arts & Crafts Summer School. The Seideneck home in Carmel Valley was a showplace of ceramics, wrought silver and copper. An accomplished artisan and teacher, she was equally skilled as a watercolorist and pastelist.
