Biography Charles A R Dunn
Charles Dunn was born in Washington D.C. on December 9th 1894. He began his career as a sports cartoonist for the "Washington Times". He contributed illustrations including covers for as the "Saturday Evening Post", "Holiday", "Life" magazine and the "Washingtonian". He also worked as an art director for "Nation's Business Magazine".
In 1917 he won the contest for the design for the D.C. flag inspired by George Washington's coat of arms. He produced over one-hundred and eighty caricatures of prominent people, many of which hang at the Burning Tree Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
