Charles Augustus Swanson, born December 16, 1905 on Hinchonbrook Island, Alaska - died January 11, 1970 in San Diego California. He painted mostly Alaska landscapes, but also some of Washington State and Oregon. In the 1960's he also painted Southern California and Arizona desert scenes. He was a member of the San Diego Art Association. Most of his paintings can be found in Alaska.
For the last few years of his life he was living and exhibiting his works in San Diego (in Old Town, for example). He passed away on January 11, 1970 in San Diego, and is buried at the Pt. Loma Military Cemetery there.
