Charles Bullet was born in Bellevue, Kentucky in 1860. Little is known about his early training other than he apprenticed with his father, Charles Bullett, an academically trained sculptor who worked in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area and who exhibited his work at the National Academy of Design, New York City in 1849.
With a studio in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, the younger Bullet was a part-time winter resident in Florida who lived and worked in the Sanibel, Bookelia, and Captiva Islands area near Ft. Myers on the west coast of the State over a nine year period. Bullet arrived in Ft. Myers in the winter of 1918. Affected by the warm brilliant light and exotic environment in coastal Lee County, he specialized in tropical Florida beach scenes
