Born Topeka, Aug. 28, 1874 and died Topeka, Aug. 14, 1950, Charles
Bolmar was a landscape painter, cartoonist, writer and
illustrator. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts,
the Spring Garden Institute, and with G.E. Hopkins in Topeka.
Bolmar illustrated Frank Albert Root's book, Overland Stage to California, and several books by Mrs. Margaret Hill McCarter. He served as the art critic for the Topeka State Journal for forty years writing a column called, "Gleanings from the Field of Art."
He lived at 212 Greenwood in Topeka in 1900.
