Biography   Charles Peck


Charles Peck, son of Sheldon Peck and Harriet Corey, was born May 10, 1827 in Addison County, Burlington, Vermont, and died December 10, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Harriet Louise Shotwell on October 24, 1866 in Rockford, Illinois, daughter of Joseph Shotwell and Ann Ball. The couple had four children, all girls.
 
Charles came to Lombard with his parents when he was about 10 years old. Charles was a "forty-niner" who went west with his brother, John S. in a covered wagon drawn by mules (Jane Alexander's handwritten note:"oxen?") when he was 19 or 20 years old. He walked practically all the way to save the mules.
