Charles Frederick Tredupp, Sr., a landscape painter, was born in Westphalia, Germany and died in 1908 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he settled around 1888. He had emigrated to America that year with his son Charles Tredupp Jr., and was naturalized on October 14, 1902.
In Germany, he had lived in Berlin from an early age and was reportedly an art student there, but it is unknown if he was enrolled in the Berlin Academy.
