Charles Henry Carter was born in Canada on July 30, 1911. Carter moved to the U.S. in 1929 to study art at the Portland (OR) School of Art and the CSFA. He lived in San Francisco in the 1930s and 1940s. He later moved to Rye, NY where he remained until his demise on Oct. 23, 1990. His watercolors are in the style of Thomas Eakins.
