Charles Isamu Morimoto was born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1903. Morimoto immigrated to the U.S. in 1916 and settled in Pasadena. After graduating from Pasadena High School, he studied in Los Angeles at Otis Art Institute and with Macdonald-Wright at the Art Students League. During WWII he was interned in a concentration camp for Japanese. After the war he returned to Hiroshima and died there in 1953.
