Charles Laurens Heald was born in Port Huron, Michigan on December 26, 1940. "Larry" Heald studied at Albion College and continued in Seattle at the University of Washington where he earned his MFA in painting. From there, he studied on a scholarship at Yale University Summer School of Music and Art. He had a solo show at the Washington State Capitol Museum in 1964 and taught at Pennsylvania State University in 1965-66. He then moved to northern California and began painting full time. He continued to exhibit in Seattle and was included in "Art Across America" in 1965 and in the San Francisco Museum of Art annual in 1966. He currently lives on Skagit Bay of Puget Sound.
