Charles Roy Smith was born in February 1922 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Early in his life, he recognized his talent and love for art and determined he would make it his future. His workmanship exhibits both impressionism and realism and he painted in both oils and watercolors. He lived and exhibited his work in both Carolinas, TN and VA. He was accepted into NC State's program just before being drafted to war.
Charles Roy passed away suddenly in September, 2002. There are several original paintings and many limited edition prints of his portrayals of southern culture.
