Charlotte Brainerd CSGA, CPE, PDCC (1921 –1995)
A painter, printmaker, draughtsman* and educator, Charlotte Brainerd (nee Charlotte Blanche Mattison) was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and died in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada where she had lived since 1987. She immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in the early 1950s, but was active for most of her professional life (c.1958 – 1987) in Toronto and London, Ontario. Brainerd’s works are in the permanent collections of several museums including the National Gallery of Canada and the National Gallery of Australia. (1)(2)
