Biography   Chenoweth Hall

A long-time resident of Prospect, Maine, she became a noted art teacher and painter of landscapes with a spontaneous, modernist style much influenced by John Marin and Marsden Hartley.

She spent most of her formative years in New York during the 1930s and then moved to the small coastal town of Prospect, Maine in the early 1940s. There she came under the modernist influence of John Marin and Marsden Hartley and later joined the faculty of the University of Maine, Machias. She was Artist-in-Residence, Associate Professor of Art, and Chairman of Cultural Affair Activities.

She traveled West and into Mexico in the 1950s, and many watercolor landscapes resulted from this trip.
