Biography Chester Leich
Born in Evansville, Indiana, Chester Leich traveled widely in the Southwest, doing a number of paintings and drypoint and other etchings of Southwestern subjects.
He studied in Florence, Munich, and Berlin and with Siebelist in Hamburg, Germany. He was also a student at Columbia University and the Art Students League.
A longtime resident of Evansville, he was a member of the Chicago and Brooklyn societies of etchers. His work includes Mountains in Arizona, San Francisco Peaks, and Crossing the Desert. During World War II, he worked in Washington DC as a volunteer cartographer.
