Biography Clarence Busch
Known for society portrait painting, Clarence Busch worked in Philadelphia, Boston and New York City. He also did mural painting and depicted figural subjects including ballet dancers. He was born in Philadelphia, but spent most of his career in Babylon, New York with summers in York Harbor, Maine.
His training included the Art Students League of New York, Academie de la Grande Chaumiere Academie Colarossi, and Academie Julian* in Paris. Although he was never a member of the National Academy of Design*, he participated in their annual exhibitions in 1924, 1925, 1932 and 1938.
He fought in World War I and II, but in 1946, depressed by ill health, he shot himself.
