Claude Shepperson was born in Beckenham, Kent, on 25 October 1867. Educated privately, he spent the years 1880-82 at Weymouth College. Though first studying law, he turned to art, and spent two years in Paris. On his return to London, he took classes at Heatherley’s (1891), and received help from Sir Frank Short.
He soon began to exhibit landscapes and social scenes in a variety of media at leading societies in London and the provinces
