Born in Vermont in 1839. During the early 1870s Mrs. Bradfield was active in NYC both as art student and teacher. Her sketches appeared in New York Graphic and other periodicals. After losing many of her paintings in a shipwreck, she arrived in Los Angeles in 1874. She began teaching art at the Catholic girls' school run by the Sisters of Mary; by 1880 she was principal of drawing in all public schools of Los Angeles. Her rare paintings include still lifes of wild flowers. Exh: London World's Fair (gold medal).
