Daniel Salvador Macmanus was born in Mexico City on Jan. 14, 1900. Having studied art in his native city, MacManus settled in Los Angeles in 1918. He was a freelance commercial artist until 1935. After joining Disney Studios, he worked as an animator and director for 39 years. Upon retirement in 1974, he began painting. He died in Los Angeles on March 11, 1990.
