Daniel Sprague Parkhurst was born in Connecticut in 1831, and lived most of his life in Providence, Rhode Island. He married Harriet M Wheeler October 20, 1856, and was in partnership with Charles Pabodie as engravers Pabodie & Parkhurst, 1857-58. So far not much is known of his earlier training or later career, but his large painting dated 1870 of Mt. Washington from Ellis River, 20 x 36, is highly accomplished.
